The Rainy Season is Here!

The rainy season is here. Our city has been experiencing a very extreme drought. We are so thankful that the rain has started to fall. This nice stylish rain coat is the one John wears when he rides his electric bike. It covers him and the front part of the bike to keep him dry. Kayleigh and Zeb love to hide underneath the coat. Now it is time for me to figure out what to do with the kids during the rainy days ahead!

Kayleigh's First Day of School

Kayleigh went to school for the first time today! We have been talking to her about starting Chinese preschool for a while. We were able to go and visit her school and see some of the classrooms before she started. She woke up this morning and asked me if today was the day she went to school. She was so excited! She loves to wear flip flops but I had explained to her that she needed to wear tennis shoes because she was going to play on the playground each morning. Well, of course on her first day it was pouring down rain and they didn't get to go outside. She is hoping for a chance to play outside on Thursday. When John dropped her off she didn't cry. He said that she seemed a little shocked not to see any white faces in the room but walked on in anyways. When I went to pick her up from school they were still eating lunch. She asked John if she could come back again! The teachers said she did great. She talked about the teachers playing the piano and singing Chinese songs. She also said that they had little sinks that she could reach and wash her hands. This must have made an impression on her. We feel like she is growing up so fast. We are so excited that she is enjoying her school and will hopefully learn the language so she can communicate with her friends.

Fun with the Grandparents

We headed to my parents house for the first time since we landed in America. I had seen my parents at the airport but this would be the first time I had seen my brother, grandparents, aunts and uncles for about a year and eight months. It was great to reunited with everyone and to introduce them to Zeb. It has been raining a lot lately which means that we have had to be creative on what to do with the kids. My sister Holly told us about a place near her work that was indoors with lots of giant jumping things. ( Not sure of the name.) So my parents and I loaded up the kids and took them there to play one afternoon. It was a lot of fun. Kayleigh loved jumping and sliding down the slide. Holly met us there after work to jump with the kids. It was a great way to spend time during a rainy day.

Dress in the rain

During the rainy season we have a lot of time indoors, so Kayleigh decided the other day that she wanted to dress up in her princess dress that was given to her by her Gran-D and Gran-Me. The pictures below show her getting tired of wearing the dress. I was lucky to get a few shots in before it came completely off.

Going to the store on a cold day

This is the first day that has been really chilly. I think it is around 50 Degrees right now and rainy. Kayleigh is starting to get suited up in these pictures for an outdoor excursion to the corner store. Her head bearly fits into her little red hat! Her head size is till in the 98th percentile in size so we are starting to look for new hats.
